Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is the practice of a traditional sequence of postures as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. The Primary Series also known as Yoga Chikitsa physically emphasizes hip opening and forward bending. The practice begins with the Sun Salutations followed by the standing sequence, seated series, and finishes with the traditional closing sequence of back bends, inversions and relaxation. Ashtanga Yoga is considered an energetic practice in which internal heat is created thru breath work and bandhas (isometric muscular contractions).

Psychologically, spiritually and emotionally Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga brings us home. It encourages us as we enter the Sun Salutation to return back to our body and move through the practice objectively by simply riding the breath. Each day as our practice evolves we are reminded of our own dynamic nature. It both humbles and empowers, and teaches at the very root level the practice of non-attachment. Some days we can clasp our foot, while other days we cannot touch our toes but we keep practicing. And as with any relationship... once given the time, our bodies and our practice unite. This union is the Yoga.

The practice is for all levels, all ages, and all body types. The ultimate goal is to cleanse the body, steady the mind and inspire the heart. Our deepest gratitude to all of our teachers.
